ROC Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te has proposed the vision of a "Smart and Sustainable New Taiwan", and now, this wave of digital innovation is reaching the Pacific! Palau is taking its first steps towards digital transformation, starting with the digitization of its congress to enhance governance and democracy.
With Taiwan's support, Palau is launching the "OEK National Congress Digital Transformation Project", improving audio-visual equipment, cybersecurity measures, and establishing an electronic voting system to make legislative proceedings more efficient and accessible. This collaboration aims to set a model for digital and smart transformation in the Pacific region, fostering progress and prosperity for both Taiwan and Palau!
On March 28, 2025, the Embassy of Taiwan in Palau joined by Palauan Senate and House of Delegates launched a site visit of completion of phase 1. Taiwan's Ambassador to Palau, Jessica Lee, and Minister Franklin Chen, along with Palauan Senators Kerai Mariur and TJ Imrur Remengesau, witnessed this milestone. The engineers from Team Taiwan showcased how technology can revolutionize congressional operations, marking an important milestone in democratic progress!
