From July 1, the Bureau of Consular Affairs is extending the online passport application renewal system to allow passport holders with less than six months’ validity on their current passport to renew their passports online.
So, if you’re an adult with household registration in Taiwan, don’t require any changes to the information page on your passport and your passport has expired or has less than six months’ validity and is not lost or damaged, you can apply to renew your passport online using a citizen digital certificate.
Applicants can pick up their new passports in 10 working days after paying the fee online. Remember to bring receipt of payment, your ID and your old passport if it has not yet expired!
If you have plans to go overseas, remember to check the validity on your passport; First time applicants can apply through one-stop-shop services at household registration offices.
And remember, July and August is #TyphoonSeason in Taiwan, so make sure you plan your time appropriately in case of typhoon closures!
