Ambassador Jessica C. Lee, Republic of China (Taiwan) to Palau, attended the 20th Biennial Sports Awards Banquet hosted by the Palau National Olympic Committee (PNOC) on November 20, where she was honored with the “Sponsor of the Year Award”
. The award recognizes Taiwan’s longstanding contribution to Palau’s sports development and highlights sports cooperation as one of the pillars of Taiwan–Palau relations.
PNOC Secretary-General Baklai Temengil read the official citation, expressing—on behalf of PNOC, national sports federations, and all Palauan athletes—deepest appreciation to the Government of Taiwan and Ambassador Lee
. She emphasized that under Ambassador Lee’s leadership, Taiwan has continually supported Palau through coach development programs, youth training, team training camps in Taiwan, and international competition assistance, enabling Palau’s sports community to grow stronger year after year.
A memorable highlight was the 2025 Pacific Mini Games, where Palau’s baseball team clinched the gold medal 
and Taiwanese athletes also achieved outstanding results—moments that symbolized the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Temengil also congratulated Taiwan on the establishment of its new Ministry of Sports
, led by two-time Olympic badminton gold medalist Minister Lee Yang and Deputy Minister Cheng Shih-Cheng, noting this as a milestone for Taiwan’s sports development. She expressed Palau’s enthusiasm to continue working closely with Taiwan on the road toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
PNOC President Frank Kyota further conveyed in writing that “no words can fully express Palau’s gratitude to Taiwan,” extending heartfelt respect to Ambassador Lee and the Government of Taiwan for years of unwavering support, commitment, and contributions.
Ambassador Lee highlighted that Taiwan and Palau share a strong partnership built upon common values, mutual respect, and genuine friendship. She noted that Taiwan is honored to receive the 2025 Sponsor of the Year Award, a testament to Taiwan’s contributions to Palau’s sports development. Taiwan will continue to promote sports diplomacy, expand youth exchanges, strengthen athlete training, and strive for even greater achievements together on the international stage
