Established in Taiwan, the Tang Prize has grown to be one of the most prominent awards in the world. The 2022 Tang Prize laureates will be announced in four press conference starting June 18.
Since its first Awards Ceremony in 2014, the Tang Prize has been awarded to 27 laureates (including 3 NGOs) from 11 countries located in 6 continents. They have given of themselves to create a better world and offered their insightful views to help the international community respond to some of the most severe challenges of our time.
Each day from June 18 (Sat) to June 21 (Tue) at 10 am Taiwan time (GMT+8), the Tang Prize Foundation will announce the latest winners in its four categories in the following order: Sustainable Development, Biopharmaceutical Science, Sinology, and Rule of Law. All the press conferences will be livestreamed on the Foundation’s official website, so people all over the world can learn about the exciting news in real time.
A cash prize of NT$ 50 million (approx. US$1.7 million) will be allocated to each category, to honor the laureates for their innovative contributions to the world and for the positive impact they have created.
Dr. Jenn-Chuan Chern, CEO of the Tang Prize Foundation, and chairs of the 2022 selection committees will attend the press conferences in person. Also present at the venue will be experts in the laureates’ specialist fields. They are invited to give the public a short introduction of the laureates and explain why they won the prize.
