Mr Göran Enander, county governor of Uppsala received Ambassador Liao at Uppsala Castle.
On January 17, 2019, Ambassador Liao, the representative of Taipei Mission in Sweden, paid a visit to Uppsala, an important metropolis in central Sweden, to meet with Göran Enander, the governor of Uppsala.
Ambassador Liao visited the governor's residence in Uppsala Castle and was warmly received by the governor, his wife Monika Enander and Elin Helgsten, the coordinator. In the reception area, the national flags of Taiwan and Sweden were displayed; a signal of the warm hospitality shown in receiving Ambassador Liao. Ambassador Liao and the Governor exchanged views on various topics such as political, economic and trade relations as well as academic and scientific exchanges between Taiwan and Sweden. The meeting lasted for an hour.
After the meeting Ambassador Liao had lunch with Sten Bernhardsson, CEO of cultural affairs, and Anna Franzen, head of cultural affairs office, together with former MP Gunnar Hedberg (former Mayor of Uppsala) and Mr and Mrs Wu, vice chairperson of Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce. The two sides discussed extensively on possible cooperation areas and prospects. Former MP Gunnar Hedberg mentioned that he was impressed when he visited Taiwan in 1996 together with Ulf Kristersson, incumbent moderate party leader, for the first time. Ambassador Liao then encouraged all to travel to Taiwan again to refresh the impression of Taiwan.
