Approval was given in September 1991 to set up a news bureau in Singapore. The Information Division began its operations in Singapore on January 25 1993.
B. Services provided by the Division:
The primary role of the Information Division is to maintain strong relations with the local press and to keep them well-informed about the latest developments in Taiwan, especially in the areas of government policies, economic performance, cultural affairs, social developments and cross straits relations. This is to help ensure that the local media carries news about Taiwan as objectively and as accurately as possible.
The office develops visiting programs for local reporters to Taiwan for media coverage of important issues and events in Taiwan. It plans the itineraries, arranges lodging and transport, and visas.
As a resource information center to the press and public, the office has a range of materials on Taiwan in various media form: CDs, DVDs, printed materials (booklets, posters).
