On 20 June 2017, Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang invited friends from the diplomatic corps, think tanks, academia, media and the arts to join him at the Esplanade to catch the inaugural performance of Judy’s Harmonica Ensemble in Singapore. Many Taiwanese working and living in Singapore and officials from the Taipei Representative Office were also there in a strong show of support for the harmonica quintet.
Formed in 2002, Judy’s Harmonica Ensemble is highly acclaimed and has won a number of international awards. At its Singapore show, Judy’s Harmonica Ensemble performed many original harmonica compositions, including Taiwan folk songs such as “The Sky is Turning Dark” and “Flowers in the Rainy Night”. “Moonlight in the City” was one of the highlights of the evening’s performance and drew many calls for encore from the audience. At the end of the performance, Mr. Chu-Ti Chuang, the leader the harmonica ensemble, expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for the chance to perform in Singapore through its sponsorship.
