PRESS RELEASE
TAIWAN FILM FESTIVAL TO TAKE PLACE AT MLADOST CINEMA
AT THE END OF APRIL
Fans of Asian cinema will have an opportunity to see a selection of high-quality Taiwanese films from the 28th to the 30th of April 2015 at the Bratislava Mladost Cinema. The fourth year of the festival, organized by Taipei Representative Office, Bratislava, offers 5 films of diverse genres.
The Festival will start on Tuesday with a motivational sports movie Jump Ashin!, director of which was inspired by the life story of his own brother. The next film Monga tells the story of a group of Taipei’s gangsters in the 1980s.
Those who love ‘Braveheart’ and ‘The Last of the Mohicans’ must not miss a two-part Taiwanese historical drama Warriors of the Rainbow, one of the most expensive films in the Taiwanese cinema history, depicting the uprising of one indigenous tribe against the Japanese colonizers in 1930. The Fourth Portrait offers an emotionally-rich story of a 10-year-old boy. The audience will see a visually striking portrait of Taiwanese life as well as the bonds of family and society. The last movie of this year’s festival Winds of September will take the audience back to 1996, during which time a tragic Taiwan baseball scandal deeply affected lives of many teenage boys.
The two screenings are at 17:30 and 20:00 each day. Admission is free. All films will be presented in their original version with English subtitles.
