Instructions for Slovak citizens applying for a visa to the Republic of China (Taiwan) under the Working Holiday Program
- Eligibility
Applicants are eligible if they meet the following conditions:
(1) are citizens of the Slovak Republic residing in the territory of the Slovak Republic at the time of application;
(2) have never previously participated in a working holiday program in Taiwan;
(3) are between the ages of 18 and 35 inclusive at the time of application;
(4) are not accompanied by a spouse or dependents unless such persons are also holders of a visa under the Working Holiday Program.
- Required Documents:
(1) a completed, printed and signed online application for a visa to the Republic of China (Taiwan) for the Working Holiday Program (available at https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw);
(2) a passport of the Slovak Republic valid for more than 18 months from the date of visa issuance;
(3) two color passport-sized photographs taken within the last;
6 months (for more information on photo regulations, please visit the BOCA website, passports section);
(4) health insurance and comprehensive hospitalization insurance valid for the entire period of stay in Taiwan;
(5) a criminal record (officially translated into English); it is recommended to have the translated criminal record verified (stamped) by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, which will then be verified by our office (verification fee €14);
(6) a document proving financial security of at least €4,000, or financial security of €2,500 together with a valid return or onward flight ticket;
(7) a non-refundable application fee of €95. Express visa issuance service is not provided.
(8) Flight ticket to Taiwan, or proof of flight ticket reservation
- Application procedure:
(1) Applications must be submitted in person;
(2) Applications must be submitted in person to the Taipei Representative Office, Bratislava;
(3) Applicants may be asked to provide additional documents, information, or to attend a personal interview as necessary.
- Type of visa issued:
(1) Type: Visitor visa;
(2) Validity: One year from the date of issue, valid for multiple entries;
(3) Length of stay: 180 days, extendable for an additional 180 days.
- An extension of 180 days may be requested 15 days before the expiration of the stay at the National Immigration Service Service Center in the city or district of stay in Taiwan.
- The total length of stay shall not exceed one year from the date of entry into Taiwan.
- No further extension or change of visa type is permitted thereafter.
- Note:
(1) Program participants are permitted to engage in temporary employment during their stay, their employment during their stay should not exceed a total of 6 months; they do not apply for a work permit;
(2) Program participants are not permitted to engage in study or training during their stay exceeding a total of 6 months during their stay;
(3) Employment is governed by the relevant regulations of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
