Swaziland king on state visit to Taiwan 2015/05/17 21:31:30
Taipei, May 17 (CNA) King Mswati III of Swaziland arrived in Taiwan Sunday on a five-day state visit to meet with high-level government officials and discuss matters of mutual concern, according to Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
President Ma Ying-jeou will officiate at a military ceremony to welcome the king of Swaziland, a South African country that has had diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan) since 1968, the ministry said.
Ma will also host a state dinner for King Mswati III, who is on his 15th visit to Taiwan, according to the MOFA.
King Mswati III will also meet with Foreign Minister David Lin to discuss issues of concern to both countries, the ministry said.
At Taiwan's invitation, the king and his wife Inkhosikati Make LaMotsa will remain until May 21, the ministry said.
Swaziland has maintained good relations with the ROC and has fully supported the ROC's participation in international organizations including the United Nations, World Health Organization and International Civil Aviation Organization, according to the MOFA.
Taiwan often has trouble joining international organizations because of opposition from Beijing.
