The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is pleased to announce the availability of the “Taiwan Scholarship 2018”. The government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is providing financial support to the students of the Kingdom of Swaziland to pursue undergraduate, Master’s or Ph.D. degrees from the universities in Taiwan. The applicants are also advised to apply for one year scholarship for the Mandarin language course prior to attending the programs that are conducted in Chinese.
Qualifications:
- Swazi nationality;
- a high school graduate with A Level certificate or a university graduate with a diploma, of excellent academic record, of good moral character and without criminal record;
- not a national of the Republic of China (Taiwan) or an overseas compatriot;
- no previous attendance of an educational institution in Taiwan at the same level of degree that he/she intends to pursue; and
- no previous revocation of a scholarship by an ROC government agency or other relevant institution.
Required Application Documents:
- A completed application form together with one photo;
- A copy of passport or proof of nationality;
- A copy of applicant’s highest-level diploma/certificate;
- Academic records from high school or university;
- A copy of application form of the university which the applicant wishes to attend; and
- A completed Medical Examination form.

Application Period: from February 1 to March 31, 2018
Selection Process:
- The embassy will select the eligible candidates from the applicants by April 15, 2018 and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) will decide the successful candidates. Final results will be announced by June 30, 2018.
- Only the successful candidates will be notified by the embassy, which will then advise whether they need to apply for the Mandarin Chinese course at the universities that they would like to attend. - The successful candidates, upon receiving their admission letter from the university they applied for, have to summit a copy of the admission letter to the embassy by June 30, 2018.
Scholarship Package:
Each scholarship recipient will be provided with:
- one direct-route, economy class return air ticket, and
- a monthly stipend of NT$ 25,000 (around 10,623 Emalangeni) for taking the one-year Mandarin Chinese course and NT$ 30,000 (around 12,748 Emalangeni) for undergraduate, Master’s or Ph.D. degrees. (Tuition fees, accommodation, insurance, living allowance and miscellaneous fees are all included in the stipend).
