Amb. Liang was invited to partake in the Seed Potato Production Project Handover and Fruit Tree Production and Marketing Project Closing Ceremony.
Amb. Liang said the two governments have established close cooperation on agricultural development since 1969 and completed quite a few projects for the benefit of emaswati. For instance, we have been helping emaswati to set up the whole seed potato propagation, inspection, certification as well as supply system and increase the amount of production under the seed potato production project launched in 2013. Now, the yearly production quantity of all generation seed potatoes reaches a new high at 550 tons!
We also launched fruit tree production and marketing project in 2016 to help the Kingdom establishing the diversity and competitiveness of high value crops such as banana, papaya, dragon fruit and guava seedlings, and this helped to create an economic benefit of more than E11 million from 2018 to 2019.
We have confidence that after transition, the Ministry of Agriculture will operate this project very smoothly in the future, and I believe the relationship between our two countries will be further promoted to a new high.
