Taiwan has launched a new film with multiple-language soundtracks to promote its bids to join the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) regional trade blocs.
Released on YouTube Wednesday, the 11-minute short film features employees at a Taiwanese bicycle manufacturing company that is seeing fewer orders from Southeast Asia as Taiwan is excluded from the regional economic integration, which puts Taiwanese companies at an disadvantage.
Available in Mandarin Chinese, English, Thai, Indonesian, Malay and Vietnamese, the film features Taiwanese, Indonesian and Malaysian designers who work for the bicycle manufacturer. Through their joint efforts, they are able to design innovative products, the film shows.
The film titled "Together We Can" is aimed at seeking support from Southeast Asian countries because many of the negotiating countries for the TPP and the RCEP are in Southeast Asia, said Manfred Peng, director-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of International Information Services, at a news briefing Thursday.
