Ambassador Liu Chih-Kung has praised the TRO-APPG partnership of 2015, citing significant increases in the number of bilateral delegations and SME connections.
The remarks, which were made at the TRO’s annual Christmas party, included a reflection on the achievements of the past 12 months.
In late 2014, Ambassador Liu pledged the TRO would work to strengthen bilateral links through in-viting more APPG delegations to Taiwan, helping more SMEs in the constituencies of APPG members build business connections with Taiwan, while also increasing the number of Taiwan’s political and business delegations to the UK.
The year 2015 has seen all three pledges delivered, with the TRO having organised multiple APPG delegations to Taiwan, as well as a separate visit on the abolition of the death penalty. It has also seen a number of successful Taiwanese delegations visit the UK, alongside the rapid development of the Regional Outreach Programme, with TRO delegations visiting over 15 respective regions within the UK to promote business links.
Ambassador Liu concluded calling on both sides to stay on course and strive for greater success.
