Launched in 2013, the medicine scholarship funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) aims to foster the next generation of medical professionals from Taiwan’s diplomatic allies. Scholarship recipients attend courses at I-Shou University’s School of Medicine for International Students (SMIS). Participants are educated in the latest medical practices, principles, and technologies so they can offer cutting-edge and patient-centred care at home and abroad. Since its establishment, the programme has accepted 180 students from countries in Africa, the Caribbean, Central America, and the Pacific.
