From 28 June to 8 July, the ‘Miao Hui-Temple Festivals and Folk Cultures in Taiwan’ exhibition will be held at the Oxo Tower Wharf in London. The exhibit’s main theme is the annual pilgrimage in the name of the goddess Mazu, and aims to provide visitors with an immersive experience. Through a stunning array of photographs, drawings, artifacts and multimedia presentations, the exhibition will showcase the beauty of Taiwan’s temples and liveliness of its folk traditions.
Among the folk religion festivals in Taiwan, the worshipping of the goddess Mazu is the most widely practiced. The Mazu annual pilgrimage procession is not only a highlight in Taiwan’s folk culture calendar, but has also been recognised by the Discovery Channel as one of the top three religious events in the world.
