Taiwan is one of the most well known countries in the world, since people around the world mostly heard of “Made in Taiwan” before. Other then producing the best quality products, Taiwan is also a place with its unique culture, local gourmet, and natural scenes. One of the best ways to know Taiwan is via a bike tour around the island.
Taiwan Cyclist Federation is now organizing a cycle tour which will circle the island in 12 days. You will join a colleague student challenge team to circle the island with your feet on the paddles. You will visit major cities and small townships of Taiwan, visit major religious temples of local gods, experience famous night markets and enjoy local snacks and cuisine. The bike route will cross the island from the west to the east, and you can enjoy the beautiful scene of the east coast as well as the famous Taroko gorge of the Taroko national park.
Come to us, and you will bring back fantastic memories from Taiwan.
Expense:
One hundred US dollar registration fee, plus a round trip airline ticket and a bike is all you need. To welcome your joining us, Taiwan Cyclist Federation will cover all the hotel lodging and meals for you.
Event Date: August 5-15, 2007
Enrollment deadline:
Filling the registration form, plus a personal information, and e-mail to Taiwan Cyclist Federation before July 20th, 2007. Due to limited quota, please register the soonest you can.
Qualification:
1. Capable of fully control your bike.
2. With cycling experience of at least 100 km per day.
3. Interested in knowing Taiwan.
4. Good health condition. (Need a certificate from hospital to prove that you are healthy and with no potential health problem)
5. This circle the island biking event is part of the "2007 Youth Travel In Taiwan" program held by National Youth Commission Executive Yuen targeted to foreign students at the age of 15 to 30 who also hold the international student ID. For those who is not within this age group, registration is still allowed at the total cost of NT$11,000 which include hotel lodging and meals.
Notifications:
1. For the one that complete the full 1000 km ride, a certificate and medal provided by National Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
2. Hotel lodging, breakfast, supporting vehicle, entrance tickets for local scenes will be arranged by the Organizer for all the riders.
3. The Organizer will also provide the event guide, event t-shirt, biking gloves, water bottle and a tour DVD to all the riders.
4. Participants should prepare your own bike with at least 21 speed mountain bikes or 16 speed road bikes. A helmet is also mandatory.
5. The Organizer can provide bikes to participants in case the participant can not carry bikes to Taiwan. (However, the size of the bike may not fit exactly.)
6. Participants should provide images taken from this event for the event’s use freely. The Organizer also have the right to use other circle the island tour related creativities, which include articles or drawings, done by the participants under the authorization of the participants. Participants can also post your creativities to Taiwan Cyclist Federation web site to share your tour experience with all the cycling lovers.
7. There maybe other gifts or sponsored products provided by possible sponsors.
8. The application information will not be utilized in any other occasion, and will not be returned to applicants either.
9. For possible maintenance need, please prepare your own inner tires.
Maintenance service will be provided by the Organizer.
