Minister Lee of the National Science Council of Taiwan's Mid-July UK Visit

Professor Lee Lou-Chuang, Minister of the National Science Council (NSC), Director-General Chang Ching-Ray and Research Fellow Vivien Lee visited London and Edinburgh between 9 and 13 July 2008. They met with their British counterparts, such as the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE), to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the UK. A further meeting with 6 Directors of the NSC liaison offices in Europe was held at the MacDonald Holyrood Hotel in Edinburgh on 12 July.
Minister Lee met with Professor David Delpy and Dr. Hannah Foreman, Chief Executive and International Manager of the EPSRC respectively, on 10 July to discuss future collaborative projects. It was confirmed that an EPSRC delegation will visit Taiwan at the end of this year to hold the 3rd review meeting with the NSC.
On 11 July, the NSC-RSE 2nd Review Meeting was held in the RSE, co-chaired by Sir Michael Atiyah, RSE President, Professor Geoffrey Boulton, RSE Secretary General and Dr. William Duncan, RSE Chief Executive. It was confirmed at this meeting that a joint workshop on Ocean Energy would be held in Scotland in spring 2009.
