- Programme description: As a welcoming, accessible and convenient society rich in diverse cultures, natural scenery, delicious cuisine and ancient traditions, Taiwan is an ideal place for students of Mandarin to strengthen their language skills and increase their cultural understanding.
- STMP combines fifteen hours of weekly small group lessons with regular cultural workshops and excursions. This programme is tailored for individuals committed to improving their Mandarin proficiency rapidly. To optimise their immersion experience, students are expected to speak Mandarin at all occasions.
- Eligibility:
- Full-time students at a mainstream school or university
- A group must have at least 15 students
- Costs:The Ministry of Education will provide subsidies per person of NTD 4,000 per week (approximately £100). Participants should pay the remaining costs and their own flight tickets. (Tuition fees and double room accommodation for a four-week course will come to around £800~1000.)
- Number of participants:Students in the same class year travelling as a group must reach a minimum of fifteen participants; individual participants are able to take part by joining together with students from other countries. For further details, please contact the Education Division.
- Duration of the programme:Minimum 2 weeks, maximum 4 weeks. Weekly language courses must be fifteen hours or more.
- Registration:For group registration, please register three months prior to the planned course start date. For individual registration, please contact the Education Division.
- Terms and conditions for participants
- Students admitted onto the programme must attend for the entire programme duration.
- Participants have to pay their own international travel expenses.
- Participants are required to submit a study report no later than one month after the end of the programme.
- The subsidy from the Ministry of Education will be deducted directly from the tuition fees of the host Language Centres.
