Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport will further consolidate its role as a major East Asian hub through expansion that will include the construction of a third terminal and a new runway.
The new terminal (Terminal 3) has a budget of 50 billion New Taiwan Dollars (£1 billion) and will have the capacity to handle a total of 43 million passengers a year. The project will be divided in three stages: firstly, the process of choosing a General Consultancy that is suited to taking charge of project and construction management (PCM), followed by the competition for the design of the new airport and the construction of the building itself. The tendering process for the selection of the General Consultancy will take place in late 2012, after which the design competition will be held. Construction is due to begin in late 2014, with a view to the project being completed by the end of 2018.
