1. This salary scale is applicable to foreign nationals employed full-time by the GIO. 2. Any employee qualified as a "specialist" under the Executive Yuan's Highest Salary Scale for Foreign Advisors, Experts, and Scholars [i.e., (a) has been a professor at a renowned foreign university and has published an internationally acclaimed work in the last five years; (b) holds an internationally renowned position in academia and has academic expertise not found among domestic academics and experts; or (c) has achieved a special level of achievement in the applied sciences or a field of technology and has several years of experience at this level] may be hired as a senior editor. A professor, or an academic or expert similarly qualified, may be hired as a professional editor. Academics and experts not qualified to be professors may be employed as editors. 3. The three listed levels of editors shall be compensated according to the salary scale for their respective positions. Those who have reached the highest salary level for their position shall not receive any further salary increases. 4. An exchange rate of NT$32.02 to US$1 has been used for this salary scale.
