GreTai Securities Market—the over-the-counter stock exchange in Taiwan—launched its first overseas roadshow in London on 8 May 2007. The roadshow was led by GTSM Chairman Lu Daung-yen, and was a project of collaboration between GTSM and the international investment bank J. P. Morgan Chase.
Ten GTSM-listed companies with good corporate governance practice and high market capitalization were invited by GTSM, with consensus from J. P. Morgan, to join the roadshow. The ten companies included ProMOS in DRAM industry; E-Ton Solar and Waferworks in the solar energy sector; Simplo Technology, a battery module maker; Shin Zu Shing, a notebook computer hinge maker; TOPoint Technology, a PCB drill maker; Phison Electronics, a flash control IC maker; Cipherlab, an automated identification system manufacturer; Wah Hong Industrial, a LCD component supplier; and Advanced Analog Technology, an analog IC maker.
The one day event provided the Taiwan companies and London-based fund managers a good opportunity to exchange views and enhance mutual understanding in a one-on-one fashion. The high participation of institutional investors in this roadshow exceeded GTSM’s expectation and indicated the attractiveness of Taiwan companies and the potential of GTSM in drawing the interest of international investors. Carrying on the success in London, GTSM and the ten companies continued their journey to New York on 10 May. Pleased with the outcome of this roadshow, Chairman Lu stated that GTSM would review the growth in international holdings of GTSM shares in the following month, and take the result into consideration for future roadshows.
