Curator and art producer Chin-yin Chong will take residency from 8th August to the 18th September for the 2022 Summer Residency program at Delfina Foundation. The residency program’s open call for artists or curators from Taiwan received a total of 56 applications competing for one coveted spot. Following deliberations by the Foundation’s special committee, Chong was selected on the strength of her portfolio and online interview.
Chin-yin Chong was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She has participated many exhibitions as an independent curator, co-founded the Taiwan-based group Arts Collective, and has also served as an assistant curator at the Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC) since 2016. Her curatorial experience includes "Yi Fei Lei" (National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, 2021), "MMXX" (Art at a Time Like This, 2021), "Borrowed Scenery" (Hong Kong Cattle Depot Art Village, 2019), "Wandering" (Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, 2019), "Hidden Trees in the Forest" (Museum of Contemporary Art, Tai Kwun, Hong Kong, 2019), among others.
This is the third year that the Delfina Foundation has collaborated with Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture, and for the first time, the residency programme has been open to curators as well as artists. Restrictions on creative research themes have also been relaxed, in hope that the Delfina Foundation will be able to provide a platform for UK and Europe-based curators to further engage in an exchange of ideas.
The Delfina Foundation is the largest non-profit organisation dedicated to running artist residencies in London, and its director, Aaron Cezar, is a renowned curator and former Turner Prize juror. In addition to its long-standing support from Arts Council England, the Foundation has long-standing ties with major contemporary art institutions across the UK and internationally, and its board members comprise collectors, critics, and curators from the UK’s world-renowned arts scene.
