The Mandarin language test officially recognised in Taiwan and implemented throughout the world, the ‘Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language’ (TOCFL: http://www.sc-top.org.tw/english/eng_index.php) will be held in central London in February, 2013. The exact schedule is as follows:
Thursday 14th February: Level 2 (Beginners) and Level 3 (Basic)
Thursday 15th February: Level 4 (Intermediate) and Level 5 (Advanced)
(The levels offered are subject to change depending on demand)
Those intending to apply for a language scholarship (Huayu Enrichment Scholarship) to study in Taiwan or a degree scholarship (Taiwan Scholarship) for a Chinese-taught programme are strongly encouraged to take this opportunity to sit the TOCFL. Priority will be given to applicants in receipt of a TOCFL certificate. In the case of certain degree programmes at Taiwanese universities, a valid TOCFL certificate at Level 3 or higher is a fixed entry requirement.
The test will comprise two elements: Reading and Listening. All questions will be multiple-choice format, with each question representing one point. No deductions will be made to the total score for wrong answers. The TOCFL will be 110 minutes in duration and the cost is the test is expected to be £25.00 per candidate.
