The distinct features of our two artist villages give each one a unique personality and style, and our comprehensive Artist-in-Residence program offers resources and facilities perfectly suited to the specific requirements and characters of different artists. A systematic selection process helps resident artists find the most fitting base in this city to live and create, so that more moving stories take place and travel out into the world. Through this platform, the power of art spreads out to every city, as international and local art and culture connect and interact. Artists-in-residence at TAV and THAV work in a vast array of forms and disciplines, yielding a cornucopia of art. Exhibitions and performances, international and local art exchanges, art education and community outreach events infuse the surrounding neighborhoods and the whole city with a wealth of surprises. Through “Open Studio” events and art workshops, artists share their own experiences and international visions with visitors, and guide them in a carnival of art. Art education classes teach Taipei people of different ages how to move freely and think creatively, allowing both kids and adults to immerse themselves in art with ease and confidence, so that art blends naturally into the very fabric of life.

Before you apply
Eligibility:
1. Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience or professional practice. Students are not eligible to apply.
2. Applicants must have a working knowledge of English or Mandarin Chinese.
3. Applicants who wish to apply for Treasure Hill Artist Village should specifically consider its ecological setting.

We call for artists from all disciplines.
How to apply
Applicants can only apply online during the open call once a year. Please visit our website（http://www.air-artistvillage.org.tw/）and fill out the application form.
When to apply
Applicants should apply residency project one year before, for example if applicants wish to do residency in 2015, applicants should apply in 2014.
Selection Process
Submissions are reviewed by a jury of knowledgeable and respected artists and arts professionals.
Do you need to pay to do the residency?
Selected applicants don’t need to pay to do the residency.
Residency location
AIR Taipei is consists of two sites and they are Taipei Artist Village (TAV) locates at No.7 Beiping East Road ,Taipei City, and Treasure Hill Artist Village (THAV) locates at No.2 Alley 14, Lane 230, Section 3, Tingzhou Road, Taipei City.

Funding
Please note that AIR Taipei doesn’t offer any funding or flight ticket for foreign artists.
Facility
AIR Taipei will provide one furnished studio for selected applicant for free during the residency schedule.
AIR Taipei will assist to arrange a venue to accomplish selected applicants’ residency projects.
Residency schedule
Selected applicants can apply the residency either in Taipei Artist Village or Treasure Hill Artist Village for 8-12 weeks, and choose a suggested season to take up the residency.
How to adjust the residency schedule
If for any reasons the selected applicant cannot take up the residency, the applicant will need to obtain AIR Taipei’s agreement, or the residency will be regards as forfeited. No objection will be entertained.
Obligation of selected applicants
Selected applicants should cooperate with AIR Taipei for the planned schedule of presentations, press campaign, educational program, official meetings, events to the public and open studio, etc.
Can the family and friends of the artist stay with the artist during the residency? How much does it cost?
Yes, the family and friends of the artist can stay with the artist in the same room/studio during the residency, however the actual condition may vary according to how many artists stay in the artist villages at the same time.
The family and friends will be charged $600NTD per person per night for the accommodation in Taipei Artist Village, $1,000NTD per person per week in Treasure Hill Artist Village.
