Ambassador Jason C. Yuan, Representative of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the United states, hosted a luncheon in honor of ambassadors of Taiwan's diplomatic allies to the United States, as well as to the Organization of American States (OAS), at Twin Oaks estate on December 21, 2011.
During the luncheon, Ambassador Yuan thanked the guests and their governments for the staunch support they extended to Taiwan over the years. He also urged them to continue supporting the Republic of China in her strife for international participation, in particular, the participation in ICAO and the UNFCCC. Ambassador Yuan then highlighted the recent progress on Cross-Strait and U.S.-Taiwan relations. He also shared his thoughts on the upcoming presidential election in Taiwan.
While speaking on behalf of the guests, Ambassador Hersey Kyota of Palau commended Taiwan's recent achievements and attributed them to President Ma's wise leadership. He also pledged to further enhance bilateral relations with Taiwan and support Taiwan’s bid for international space.
Ambassadors to the United States from Palau, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Belize, Gambia, Paraguay, El Salvador, Guatemala and Marshall Islands attended the luncheon. The representatives of Haiti, Guatemala, El Salvador to the OAS were also present.
