The EMMA Expo India 2012 featuring Taiwan electronics, machinery, mold and auto parts makers drew more than 6,200 buyers Sept. 27-30 in Bangalore, according to the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
The record number of buyers was an increase of more than 60 percent over last year’s figure, TAITRA said Oct. 1. Follow-up business opportunities generated at the event surpassed US$10 million, the council added.
Major procurers attending the event included representatives from Panasonic India, Bosch Ltd., Excel Eltech Inc., Elcoteq Electronics India Pvt Ltd., Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. and Ingersoll Rand Ltd., TAITRA said.
“This exhibition really surpassed my expectations,” said Suresh B. Kapadia, a buyer representing several Indian energy, electronics and tire companies attending the event for the first time. “I’ve never purchased from Taiwanese enterprises before, but after seeing some of the new products on display here, I expect to engage in further talks with several of the firms.”
Many buyers were attracted to the event by Taiwan’s globally renowned electronics and information technology products. “The quality of Taiwanese products is excellent, and the service provided by their suppliers is also top-notch,” a representative for Indosun Electronics said.
“There is currently a high demand in India for installation of set-top boxes, and I hope to cooperate with related Taiwanese manufacturers on meeting this demand,” he added.
Other Taiwan sectors represented at the expo included food processing equipment and green technology.
The event, held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre in the Indian state of Karnataka, was jointly organized by TAITRA, the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association, Taiwan Association of Machine Industry, and Taiwan Transportation Vehicle Manufacturers Association. It was supervised by the ROC Bureau of Foreign Trade.
Following the exhibition, a delegation of 21 participating manufacturers headed to New Delhi and Kolkata to promote their products, according to TAITRA.
