Scholarship Program for Advanced Mandarin Studies in Taiwan (AMS)
TECRO is offering this award to American undergraduate and graduate students, who are enrolled as full-time students at a U.S. college or university, and who are interested in improving their Mandarin language proficiency through study abroad at a university in Taiwan. Ideal applicants are American citizens who neither hold a Taiwan passport nor claim Taiwanese or Chinese heritage and who meet the following category of eligibility:
Current Students and Recent Graduates: must have completed at least six semesters of secondary education Advanced Placement or an equivalence of university-level Mandarin study. Only undergraduate and graduate students who have completed the necessary Mandarin study pre-requisites will be considered for this award. TOCFL is not required, it is strongly recommended. Applicants who have taken or have registered for the TOCFL test will have higher acceptance priority
Funds: The program provides recipients with a fixed monthly stipend (NT$25,000, about US$862, rate: 29) to help defray living expenses and tuition in Taiwan. Successful applicants are responsible for all other costs.
Scholarship Duration:
Three (3)、six (6)、nine (9)、or twelve (12) months from September 2014 to August 2015.

Deadlines: Applications must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2014. We cannot accept any applications that are postmarked later than this date.
