The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) Culture Center will provide Republic of China (ROC) expatriates and the locals in the greater Washington, D.C. area with an opportunity to learn more about Taiwan's culture, Taiwan's chief representative in the United States, David Tawei Lee, said June 19 during the TECRO Culture Center's grand opening ceremony.

Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney A. Katz, who was among the 500 guests attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony, announced that June 19 will become Gaithersburg's "TECRO Day".
Other distinguished guests included Ms. Chang Fu-mei, Minister of Taiwan government's Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission (OCAC), Francis Ruzicka, Director of Trade and Commercial Programs of the American Institute in Taiwan, Jennie Forehand, Maryland State Senator, members of Maryland House of Delegates, Montgomery County Government officials, and leaders of local ROC expatriate organizations among others.
