mbassador Jason C. Yuan, Representative of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the United States, hosted a dinner in honor of Chairman Reince Priebus of the Republican National Committee (RNC) and other RNC members at the Twin Oaks Estate on January 14, 2011.
During the dinner, Ambassador Yuan first extended congratulations to Chairman Reince Priebus for his election as the Chairman of the RNC, then he pointed out the attendance of Chairman and Mrs. Priebus, along with other leading members of the RNC, at Twin Oaks for a celebration of the Chinese New Year symbolized the significance of the friendship between the RNC and Taiwan.
Speaking on behalf of the RNC, Chairman Priebus praised Ambassador Yuan as the “Freedom Ambassador” and thanked Ambassador Yuan for his hospitality. He also stated that the GOP treasured its long-standing relationship with the ROC (Taiwan), since both share the same core values and principles, especially those of freedom, democracy and respect for human rights. The RNC will continue to strengthen relations with Taiwan, which are already quite strong.
The attending members of the RNC were impressed by Ambassador Yuan’s remarks and they promised to continue promoting the substantive relationship between the ROC (Taiwan) and the United States.
