The Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA) Georgia held its 35th Annual Convention on June 16, 2018 at the Carter Center. Deputy Director-General of TECO Atlanta Daniel Hung, was invited to give a speech as a guest of honor. He commended the OCA for advancing, since 1983, the social, political and economic wellbeing of Asian-Pacific Americans in Georgia. He said he and his TECO colleagues appreciate OCA-Georgia’s many advocacy and outreach programs to empower Asian-Pacific Americans.
Deputy Director General Hung also underscored the trade relationship between Taiwan and the US: Taiwan is the 10th largest trading partner with the US, with an annual $85 billion trade volume. He emphasized Taiwan’s “New Southbound Policy”, which seeks to expand and improve Taiwan’s relations with neighboring countries. He also noted that on March 14, the Michelin Guide Taipei 2018 was launched. The highly-anticipated list revealed that a total of 20 restaurants in Taipei received 24 Michelin stars. He encouraged everyone to visit Taiwan someday to learn the land, the cuisine and the people at first-hand.
