Director-General Wang greeted with Georgia Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan by phone. DG Wang and Lt. Governor Duncan discussed the new National Security Law in Hong Kong and how its consequences span worldwide, including in Georgia.
They also discussed the measures Taiwan took to successfully contain COVID-19 early on, including by on-board testing airline passengers from Wuhan, ramping up mask production quickly to share domestically and worldwide, and the positive impact of this early response on Taiwan's economic performance.
DG Wang invited Lt. Governor Duncan, a former Florida Marlins pitcher, to throw the first pitch at a professional baseball game in Taiwan. When circumstances return to normal, DG Wang hopes to meet Lt. Governor Duncan in person.
