Stand alongside Taiwan, a partner to the U.S. and Georgia
Three symbols of Atlanta’s global connection swim around a massive aquatic tank inside the Georgia Aquarium. These majestic whale sharks are adored by the aquarium’s visitors.
Unfortunately, their home, the island nation of Taiwan, has not been treated with the same adoration within the international community. Today that must change. Taiwan should be inducted as a full member of the United Nations.
Taiwan has been a productive partner to the United States and Georgia. For example, during the pandemic, Taiwan donated literal tons of PPE for healthcare workers in the state. Locally, the Taiwanese community is active economically, politically, and academically and contributes to this great city’s diversity of experience and thought.
This symbiotic relationship makes it even more regrettable that China is bullying Taiwan and its allies. The UN’s lack of acknowledgment represses the representative freedoms of 23 million people.
Join me in giving a voice for Taiwan’s inclusion in the United Nations.
