Resident Visa


Eligible Applicants Foreign nationals, who hold ordinary passports or other travel documents, intend to stay in the R.O.C. (Taiwan) for more than six (6) months for the purpose of joining family, pursuing studies, accepting employment, making investment, doing missionary work, or engaging in other permissible activities.
Duration of Stay
  • Resident Visa holders are required to apply for an Alien Resident Certificate (A.R.C.) at the city/county police headquarters nearest to their residence in the R.O.C. ( Taiwan ) within 15 days after their arrival. They may stay in the R.O.C. ( Taiwan ) as long as the A.R.C. remains valid.

  • A passport valid for at least six months
  • A duly completed (visa application form online)with two passport-sized photos (colored, showing front face, taken within 3 months)
  • Supporting documents or official letters of approval from a competent authority of the ROC ( Taiwan )
  • Health Certificate if requested (signed by a medical doctor, notarized, document certified)
  • For accepting employment: (1) A letter from the employers in the R.O.C. ( Taiwan ) certifying employment; (2) Permission to work (issued by the R.O.C.( Taiwan) authorities)
  • US Permanent Resident Card (Non-US citizen, if applicable)
  • Other necessary documents if requested after submission of above-mentioned documents.
  • If your application is sent by mail, a self-addressed envelope with return postage by Certified mail, Priority with deliver confirmation, Registered mail, or Express mail is required (stamps only, no meter postage)
Visa Validity A Resident Visa is valid for three months.
Application Fee
  • USA passport holder : $160
  • All other country: $66 for a single-entry visa
  • If your application is sent by mail, all fees must be paid by money order or cashier check (Payable to TECO ) . No personal checks will be accepted.

  • TECO reserves the right to withhold disclosure of the reasons for disapproval of your visa application.
  • TECO assumes no responsibility for delayed, lost, or stolen items sent by mail at the applicant's request.
  • The above regulations do not apply to blue collar workers or those who enter the R.O.C. ( Taiwan ) via the visa exemption program.

  • Starting from April 9, 2012, ROC visa applicants need to first access the website:, fill out the visa application forms online and then print them out. The completed forms with bar codes and other required documents ought to be submitted to the ROC’s overseas missions which the applicants have selected while filling out their application forms. The offline application forms will no longer be accepted.
