Director-General and Mrs. Jonathan C. Y. Sun Host the 110th National Day Reception in Boston

TECO in Boston held the 110th Republic of China (Taiwan) National Day Reception at Boston Park Plaza on October 8. Even though COVID-19 continues to pose challenges, more than 300 guests, including New England State Senators, Representatives, local dignitaries, members of the Consular Corps of Boston, Boston Taiwanese community leaders, scholars, and students participated in the reception. Direct-General Sun noted in his address that over the past year, Taiwan’s economy proved an amazing success while defying the COVID outbreak. Taiwan-U.S. relations grew even stronger and nine Taiwan-friendly resolutions were passed by the senate and house of representatives of the various New England states, expressing friendship and support of Taiwan. Governor Daniel McKee of Rhode Island, Speaker Ronald Mariano of Massachusetts, many elected officials from New Hampshire, Maine, Mr. Raymond Chang, President of the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of New England, Mr. Roman Chan, National President of Chinese Merchants Association of America, Council Members of the Overseas Community Affairs Council, Dr. Edward Chiang and Mrs. Jing Ruo Lin, addressed guests at the reception expressing their congratulations and support of Taiwan; they also joined in the on-stage cake cutting ceremony.
