A: The next-generation e-Passports of ROC (Taiwan), which brings greater security and convenience for passport-holders, will be issued starting December 25, 2017. The new version features cutting-edge anti-counterfeiting technology such as third image of the passport-holder and a metallic surface relief etc. The inner pages are embedded with images of landmarks and cultural activities that symbolize a dynamic Taiwan.
The cost and application procedure will be remain unchanged. Previous versions of e-Passports and machine-readable passports will remain valid until their expiry date. However, passport-holders also have the option of applying for a new, next-generation passport prior to the expiration of their current one.
