Director General Eric Huang attends the Opening Ceremony of Chicago Dragon Boat Race for Literacy

Director General Eric Huang attended the Opening Ceremony of the 2018 Chicago Dragon Boat Race for Literacy on Saturday, June 23th. The event attracted thirty two dragon boat race teams and over 10,000 visitors this year. The event organizer, Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, donates a portion of event revenues to local schools and organizations in support of education and literacy.
In DG Huang’s remarks as a special guest, he echoed Governor Bruce Rauner and US Senator Dick Durbin’s view on the importance of education. He commended the effort of Chinatown Chamber of Commerce in giving this auspicious traditional celebration another profound purpose and invited the champion racing team in Chicago to participate in Taiwan’s international dragon boat competition next year.
Director General Eric Huang was welcomed at the Opening Ceremony. Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner and Mrs. Rauner (on DG’s left) and US Senator Dick Durbin (1st left) were among the special guests.
