The 36th Session of the Guam Legislature was convened today afternoon April 30, 2021, set to vote on the Resolution No. 53-36(COR), proposed by Guam Legislature Vice Speaker Hon. Tina Rose Muña Barnes and Senator Frank Blas Jr., aiming to voice support for Taiwan’s participation, as an observer, in the 74th World Health Assembly (WHA) scheduled to take place in May this year. The Resolution, with all the 15 senators voting yes, was passed unanimously. TECO Director General Paul Chen, accompanied by Director Stephen Hsu, was invited to attend the session to witness the passage of the resolution. After being introduced by Speaker Hon. Therese M. Terlaje, both of them were given a big round of applause and warmly welcomed by the senators. Vice Speaker Hon. Tina Rose Muña Barnes and Senator Frank Blas Jr., in their remarks following the vote, stressed the friendly ties between Guam and Taiwan, touted Taiwan’s remarkable success in epidemic prevention and thanked Taiwan for donating a variety of medical supplies to help Guam curb COVID-19. They also thanked all members of the Guam Legislature for their support of the resolution. As the session ended, the Speaker invited all the senators to come forward to take a picture with TECO Director General Paul Chen and TECO staff member.
