China (Taiwan), followings are the serial celebration activities for your
information.
1. Program: Symposium on Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the Development of the Republic of China

“The Three Principles of the People” is the driving ideology upon which Founding Father Dr. Sun Yat-sen established a democratic and modern China. At the centennial of the founding of the Republic of China, the goal of this symposium is to provide the audience with a better understanding of Dr. Sun’s thought, the achievements of the country he founded and his influence in the world.

3. Program: Torch of Peace Lighting Ceremony

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the Government of the Republic of China has chosen the city of Honolulu to hold the most important overseas centennial celebration. A torch lighting ceremony will be held in front of Aloha Tower on March 29, 2010, where our Founding Father Dr. Yat-sen first docked when he arrived in Hawaii via the SS Grannock in1879. About 400 compatriots from around the world, along with over 300 members from the Hawaiian community, will jointly celebrate this event. To underscore the ROC’s progress and development during the past century and to promote the continuation of the ideals of freedom, democracy and human rights, the Torch of Peace will travel around the world and throughout Taiwan from April 1 through October 8, 2011. The Torch of Peace will complete its journey and be presented to President Ma Ying-jeou on October 9, 2011 in Taipei.
4. Program: Cultural Night of Good-Will Mission

This 2-hour variety show includes Taiwanese aboriginal songs, Hakka folk songs, Taiwanese Opera- gezai opera, talk show, pop songs, etc. This show will portray the artistic variety, cultural diversity, and ethnic tradition of Taiwan. The casts are Siu Leung Go, Sharon Li, the Hakka Blue Shirts Music & Dance Troupe, Fu Wei, Ming Hwa Yuan Arts & Cultural Group, Fang Fang, Frankie Gao, & Christine Ko.
5. Program: Tracing the Footsteps of Dr. Sun Yat-sen

Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Hawai’i years influenced him profoundly, and helped to shape his character and achievements. To commemorate the ties between Hawaii and the birth of the Republic of China, H.E Ying-yih Wu, Minister of the Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission, will pay respect to the Statue of Dr. Sun in Chinatown, and will visit the Memorial Hall of the Revive China Society (Hing Chung Wui), Iolani School and Punahou School.
6. Program: Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the Republic of China Photo Exhibition

Dr. Sun Yat-sen established the Republic of China as the first democratic republic in Asia. He promoted China’s modernization. His political vision paved the way for Taiwan’s transformation. On the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China, we pay tribute to this great man by presenting this photo exhibition.
