The Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission (OCAC) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has chosen a star chef, Mr. Pao-yuan Huang, to promote the world-renowned Taiwanese cuisine in Hawaii in the following events:
1. Hawaii Wine & Food Festival at Ko Olina, “A Celebration of Great Wines, Music, Food & Fashion” on Friday, May 18, 2012, at 6 pm.

2. Free cooking class at See Dai Doo Society (1300 Pali Highway) on Sunday,
May 20, 2012, 1:30 pm – 4 pm.

3. Taiwanese gourmet demo at Kapi`olani Community College (Ohia Bldg. Room 108)on Tuesday May 22, 2012, 12:00PM – 2:00PM.
4. Chef Huang will also conduct a tour of local Taiwanese-owned restaurants here
on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, and provide free consultation upon request.

Chef Huang started his career as a kitchen assistant at the Pig & Whistle British Restaurant in Taiwan. He soon rose through the ranks at several international hotel & restaurant chains, such as the Grand Hyatt Taipei and the Four Seasons Taipei, until reaching the executive chef’s position. He is currently teaching as an assistant professor at Hsing Wu Institute of Technology. Chef Huang also studied at the Wagashi (Japanese pastry) School, and Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Institute.
In 2008, Mr. Huang received Administrative-chef Medal-of-Honor from Chaine de Rotisseurs. He also won a gold medal of 2009 FHM Malaysia International Cookery Competition, representing Taiwan. He was awarded first place, Outstanding-chef of Taiwan National Honor at the same year.
