Taiwan’s Academia Sinica operates astronomical telescopes on the Big Island of Hawaii and collaborates with the United States on the Submillimeter Array project, conducting astronomical observations such as studying planetary formation and exploring the mysteries of black holes.
Director General Jerry Chang accompanied by Dr. Chen Ming-tang, a resident astronomer from Taiwan, visited the telescopes on Mauna Kea (meaning "White Mountain" in Hawaiian), the highest peak on the Big Island.
As one of the key figures behind the first-ever observation of a black hole in history, Dr. Chen shared his research achievements with DG Chang.
