New Year New Passport: TECO in Houston holds a First Issuance event

To welcome the arrival of the new version of the Republic of China (Taiwan) passport, TECO in Houston held a First Issuance event on January 26, 2021. Director-General Robert Lo handed the new passports to the first two applicants, along with a Taiwan-shaped pillow as a gift. The first 50 applicants who receive updated passports in person will also receive a small gift.

The new passport highlights TAIWAN. Director-General Lo said, "The new version not only looks good, but will make it easier to identify citizenship and to protect the rights of Taiwanese when traveling abroad".

Commissioner Meifen Chen of the Overseas Community Affairs Council of the Republic of China (Taiwan), accompanied by her husband, and President Samuel Hsu of the   Houston Taiwan Institute for Senior Citizens also attended the event. Commissioner Chen said she was excited to see the beautiful new passport. She and her husband immediately submitted their applications after the event. She stressed, “I may not live in Taiwan, but my heart is always tied with my home country. I am always proud of Taiwan." President Hsu was also happy to see the new passport and felt proud. He encouraged Taiwanese nationals to apply for the new version.
