2023 Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) now available
The Huayu Enrichment Scholarship of Taiwan’s Ministry of Education to study Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan is now open for applications for American students from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas.
Award Value: A Monthly stipend of NTD$25,000 (approx. USD$850).
Duration: 2 (June to July or July to August), 3, 6, 9, or 12 months.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be American nationals, above the age of eighteen (18), with a high school diploma or higher degree, must have excellent academic records, and must be of good moral character.
- Applicants are not eligible if they meet any of the following restrictions:
- Overseas Chinese or nationals of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
- Is currently registered as a student at a Mandarin Language Center or has sought a degree from a university or college in Taiwan.
- Individuals who received an MOE HES, MOE Taiwan Scholarship, TUSA Scholarship, and Taiwan Huayu BEST Program Scholarship in the past. (*HES, TUSA Scholarship, and Taiwan Huayu BEST Program Scholarship are mutually exclusive.)
- Exchange or dual/joint degree students admitted in accordance with academic cooperation agreements between local universities/colleges and foreign universities/colleges.
- Individuals who are currently receiving financial benefits from Taiwan government or any educational institutions in Taiwan.
Applications must be submitted between February 1, 2023 and March 31, 2023.
