In response to global concerns about marine debris, the Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration is promoting the Recycled Marine Debris Product Label, an official certification label given to raw materials and products made from recycled marine waste.
The label is the first-of-its-kind in the world supported by a government agency that involves rigorous validation procedures and regulations. The meaning of marine debris and its content in the product are strictly defined. It is worthy of application by international companies to not only show support but also to take action to prevent the impact of marine debris on the environment.
As a maritime country, Taiwan hopes to use its well- honed soft power to reverse the harm that plastic waste has caused in the marine environment and contribute to the international community.
