Director General Amino Chi was delighted to call on US Congressman Ted Lieu on August 2nd. DG Chi expressed gratitude to Congressman Lieu for co-sponsoring the 'Taiwan International Solidarity Act'. They also exchanged views on how to strengthen the Taiwan-U.S. cooperation.
The U.S. House of Representatives passed the 'Taiwan International Solidarity Act' in July. The Act advocates that the United States should counter China's attempt to hinder Taiwan's participation in international organizations by distorting the United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. 2758, emphasizing that the resolution only deals with the issue of representation of China and does not involve Taiwan. Congressman Lieu, a co-sponsor of the bill, has stated that Taiwan is an important partner of the United States and continues to contribute to the international community. Therefore, Taiwan should not be excluded from the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
Thank you Congressman Lieu for your steadfast support for Taiwan!
