In an environment where language, culture, and the healthcare system can feel drastically different, having a hospital that understands Asian families and offers care in your native language can significantly reduce the anxiety and stress for patients.
Led by Co-CEO Dr. Jonathan Wu and Co-CEO Dr. Wen-Ta Chiu, AHMC Healthcare has for years provided Southern California residents with multilingual services, including Mandarin and Cantonese. More importantly, during the COVID-19 pandemic, AHMC provided timely, compassionate, and meticulous medical assistance to countless Taiwanese expatriates, as well as our TECO-LA staff. Their dedication ensured that many Taiwanese far from home could still feel the warmth and support of their homeland during their most vulnerable moments.
Accompanied by TECO-LA’s Science and Technology Division, Director General Jason Ma and Mrs. Ma recently visited Dr. Wen-Ta Chiu, Co-CEO of AHMC, and toured the San Gabriel Valley Medical Center (SGVMC) to gain a firsthand look at the hospital's patient care, diagnostics, and smart healthcare facilities. Having lived overseas for many years due to diplomatic postings, DG Ma and his wife deeply empathize with the anxiety immigrant families face when navigating unfamiliar healthcare systems and language barriers. They were profoundly impressed by AHMC’s long-standing commitment to serving the Asian community.
Beyond community healthcare, AHMC has been actively advancing AI healthcare and smart hospital development. It also serves as a crucial bridge for Taiwan-U.S. medical cooperation, facilitating professional training programs, assisting Taiwan's medical devices in entering the U.S. market, and building linkages with educational and long-term care institutions.
Whether it is the well-being of our diaspora, global public health, or the international visibility and impact of Taiwan's medical industry, there is still immense potential for further development. "Taiwan can help, and Taiwan is helping" has never been an empty slogan. We will continue to work tirelessly with AHMC and all like-minded partners to contribute to public health in Southern California and across the globe.
Let Taiwan help.
