The Taiwan Academy of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles (TECO in LA) has teamed up with Creative Class Collective, the organizer of the 2026 LONG BEACH WALLS and ART RENZEI festival, to invite Taiwanese graffiti artists Bamboo Yang and Huntz Liu to create large-scale murals in Long Beach. The opening ceremony took place on June 10, drawing notable guests such as Steve Goodling, President and CEO of the Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Jasper Wong, founder of WORLD WIDE WALLS. Ting-chao Chang, Cultural Officer of TECO, represented the office at the event to express gratitude to the city of Long Beach for its long-standing support of Taiwanese art and creativity.
A total of seven top graffiti artists from around the globe were invited to participate this year, including the two from Taiwan. Bamboo Yang, an active figure in Kaohsiung’s street art scene, is making his Los Angeles debut. His mural is located by the coastal Rainbow Lagoon, inspiring him to use swans as a core concept so the artwork seamlessly integrates with the surrounding landscape. The other artist, Huntz Liu, is a long-time Los Angeles resident known for using layered, cut paper to explore the origins and evolution of things, reflecting his ever-changing worldview and creative approach shaped by his immigrant background. Both pieces will be displayed on the walls of buildings near the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center for at least one year.
Taiwanese street art has been gaining increasing visibility in North America, following a previous buzz-worthy appearance at the Bushwick Collective in New York. This latest collaboration aims to sustain that abundant creative energy and continue elevating the international visibility of Taiwanese creators.
The Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles noted that street art is a vital cultural symbol of SoCal, highlighting that even the official dynamic emblem for the LA28 features collaborations with multiple West Coast graffiti artists. Furthermore, the
Long Beach Walls festival is an annual landmark event officially authorized by the world-renowned street art organization WORLD WIDE WALLS, making it a highly coveted platform for global street artists. Through this partnership, Taiwan hopes to weave its artistic vitality and creative soft power directly into the streetscape of Long Beach.
