The Taiwanese-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Los Angeles (TACCLA) held its 9th donation ceremony of “Million Masks for Greater Los Angeles” on August 13. The TACCLA donated 50,000 masks to the LA Community Hospital (LACH), which has 7 medical centers in Southern California. Hector Hernandez, CEO of LACM, expressed his gratitude to the Taiwanese community for their assistance in this dire time.
Director General Louis Huang of TECO in Los Angeles also commended TACCLA for their act of kindness and for representing that “Taiwan can help, and Taiwan is helping.” DG Huang also mentioned that many Taiwanese volunteer after retirement to contribute to society, and Taiwan is also willing to assist the international community to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Just like Health Secretary Alex Azar said, Taiwan has world-leading public health capabilities, and has been successful in combating COVID-19 within and beyond its own borders, and is a reliable partner in the world.
