Strengthening Sister City Ties: Taiwan and Tavares Connect

Director General Chou recently visited Tavares, Florida — sister city of Xindian District (formerly Xindian City) in New Taipei — alongside Overseas Community Affairs Council Advisor Mr. Liao. Mayor Walter Price, City Manager John Drury, and several council members warmly welcomed them at City Hall.
DG Chou expressed gratitude to the City of Tavares for its support of Taiwan and care for Taiwanese residents, and invited Mayor Price to lead a delegation to the Smart City Summit & Expo in Taiwan next March.
Tavares is surrounded by beautiful lakes and is known as “America’s Seaplane City” — where the first seaplane took off and landed — fueling the growth of seaplane aviation. The city draws crowds of aviation enthusiasts annually, boosting the economy of Central Florida.
