Director General Chou attended the Taiwanese American Association of Greater Orlando’s Lunar New Year reunion banquet on February 15, joining more than 200 members of the Taiwanese community and friends of Taiwan for an evening celebrating tradition, friendship, and shared heritage.
Distinguished guests included former U.S. Congressman Tom Feeney, Florida Commission on Ethics Commissioner Linda Stewart, and Academician Shin-Tson Wu, along with numerous community and civic leaders. Their presence highlighted the unity and strength of the Taiwanese-American community in Central Florida.
Director General Chou noted that the Year of the Horse symbolizes energy and success, emphasizing that the steady advancement of Taiwan–U.S. and Taiwan–Florida relations reflects the longstanding dedication and support of overseas Taiwanese. He also presented overseas community service appointments in recognition of outstanding contributions.
A special Lunar New Year video message from Taiwan’s President, Vice President, and OCAC Minister Chia-ching Hsu added a heartfelt moment to the evening. Association President Ya Lan Chien helped recreate an authentic Taiwanese New Year atmosphere by shipping traditional banquet tableware from Taiwan and partnering with local Taiwanese restaurants to serve classic festive dishes.
Reunion is more than sharing a meal — it is about bringing the heart of Taiwan together, even miles away from home.
